This is a beautifully aged mid 19th century earthenware, octagonal shaped footed bowl that was likely a base to a covered dish or tureen. The mulberry colored transferware features the "Udina" pattern. It has an almost ethereal feel to the design.
This piece was produced by J Clementson, which operated from 1839 to 1864 in England.
There is age-related crazing and varying degrees of staining throughout. There is one small chip on the underside base which is hardly visible. There are several hairlines which do not affect the integrity or stability.
Please see all photos and video; zoom in for details!
This time-loved antique is a lovely example of early English transferware and would look beautiful in any collection.
